The County of Monterey Health Department is reminding Monterey County residents to exercise caution when gathering and eating wild mushrooms. Local hospitals have recently reported an increase in illnesses resulting from eating poisonous wild mushrooms.

Investigation a multistate outbreak of infant botulism linked to ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula. Preliminary testing of one sample of the formula by the CDPH laboratory suggests the presence of the bacterium that causes botulism. The company has recalled two lots of its product.

CDPH is warning consumers that foods and other products containing kratom and 7-OH are illegal to sell or manufacture and may result in addiction, serious harm, overdose, and death. Despite their wide availability, these products are illegal to sell and cannot be sold online or in stores.
