Jail Compliance Division
The Jail Compliance Division of the Monterey County Sheriff's Office plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of incarcerated person welfare at the Monterey County Jail. This division is dedicated to ensuring that all state and federal regulations are rigorously adhered to, reflecting our commitment to upholding the rights and well-being of those in our custody.
Additionally, the Jail Compliance Division is responsible for the implementation and ongoing adherence to the stipulations set forth in the Hernandez Settlement, which emphasizes the importance of fair and humane treatment of all incarcerated persons.
Through meticulous oversight and continuous evaluation, the Jail Compliance Division ensures that the Monterey County Jail not only meets but strives to exceed the established standards, thereby fostering a safe and respectful environment for both incarcerated persons and staff.
Corrections Ombudsman
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office Ombudsman serves as a liaison and advocate for the incarcerated population, their family members, and other interested stakeholders. In this role, the Ombudsman works collaboratively with incarcerated individuals, Sheriff's Office staff, healthcare providers, and community partners to resolve complaints and grievances at the lowest appropriate level. The goal is to ensure concerns are addressed fairly, impartially, and efficiently while promoting accountability, transparency, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
