Branch History
Carmel Valley stretches 15 miles from Cahoon Ranch to Carmel Bay. It is bordered by the Sierra de Salinas to the east and the Santa Lucia Range to the west. The Carmel Valley Branch is situated in Carmel Valley Village, a community that gained popularity due to prominent businessmen brothers Byington and Tyrey L. Ford.
The Carmel Valley Branch Library was established on December 19, 1938, originally known as the Carmelo Library. In 1980, MCFL relocated the branch to its current location, the former Buckeye Restaurant. Visitors are delighted by the library's adobe walls, dark beams, and fireplaces, as well as the shelves of books. Notably, the circulation desk was once the bar of the restaurant.
Building:
Library services began in 1938 and have been provided in the old Buckeye Building since 1980.
