Volunteer
Volunteer at your local branch!
Monterey County Free Libraries is committed to enriching the lives of our community through access to information, knowledge, and programs. Our dedicated volunteers play a vital role in achieving this mission by offering valuable support to our staff and patrons. This policy outlines the expectations and guidelines for volunteer engagement at the library.
In accordance with labor agreements, volunteers do not displace any Library employee. This means volunteers typically perform tasks that are not regularly performed by staff. However, there are plenty of tasks and projects that volunteers can assist with that help staff carry out the mission of the library.
- Organizing/Shelving books
- Assisting staff with a library program or making a display
- Helping kids in our Student Support Centers
- Offering Technology help
- Emergency Support - Assist in serving communities as Cooling Centers, Temporary Evacuation Points and more in an emergency
