The Employee Wellness Program Committee members support the wellness program and are committed to modeling and promoting health and well-being to our workforce. Through innovative programming and activities focused on the six pillars of wellness (physical, nutritional, mental & emotional, financial, social, and occupational), we aim to create supportive workplace environments where employees thrive at work and beyond. We listen to understand the unique aspects of our departments or divisions and collaborate to develop wellness initiatives to make county employees feel motivated and supported to thrive. A healthy, productive workforce is critical to the success of County Departments in serving the public and their clients.

Purpose
The County Employee Wellness Committee aims to create a culture of health and well-being by assisting in program planning and implementation and providing information, activities, and services to support healthy lifestyle choices for the County of Monterey Employees.

Objectives
- Encourage and support Departmental efforts to create and sustain a healthy work environment for employees.
- Encourage all leadership levels to create a culture of health and well-being for employees.
- Put forward suggested health and wellbeing policy recommendations on new and innovative well-being programs and services.
- Promote and encourage County employee to be their healthy best.
- Assist in creating a sustainable program plan as the program grows and evolves.
The County Employee Wellness Committee is composed of "Wellness Partners."
Wellness Partners focus on planning, implementing, and sustaining initiatives that promote well-being county-wide. They are also great communicators, activators, motivators, promoters, and examples of optimal well-being! They are representatives from County Departments. Large departments or divisions may have up to two department Wellness Partners.

Time Commitment
The County Wellness Committee meets quarterly for two hours. Meetings are scheduled on the third Wednesday of the month from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are held virtually via Zoom or in person at various locations as needed.
The expected time commitment to attend to the Committee members and develop activities is 3-5 hours per month. Additional time may be needed to participate in ad-hock meetings or department-level related well-being initiatives or activities.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Attend and actively participate in all Employee Wellness Committee meetings
- Setting goals and objectives for the Employee Wellness Committee and recommending ways to drive a culture of well-being
- Contribute your ideas and experiences, as well as the needs, concerns, and feedback from your worksites and colleagues, to Wellness program discussions
- Be enthusiastic and help ideate new programming and drive employee engagement throughout the County
- Offer feedback on the possible barriers to proposed programming and offer suggestions for addressing those barriers; plus, offer effective program communication procedures and solutions to challenges
- Ensure that Employee Wellness Program services and activities are promoted through different communication channels throughout the County

- Be prompt – arrive on time so meetings can begin promptly
- Be courteous – listen attentively and respectfully to all ideas and concerns
- Be democratic – establish 'voting' procedures to determine which ideas get implemented
- Be trustworthy – protect employee confidentiality when sharing ideas/concerns with the group
- Be dependable – always follow through on promises and commitments you make
