MyPlate/Harvest of the Month - Nutrition Education in the Classroom
Welcome to the new school year!
The CalFresh Healthy Living team is ready to begin another year of fun, interactive, nutrition lessons with your students! Our Harvest of the Month/MyPlate lessons are suitable for students in Tk-6th grade. Our educators are available to deliver (5) 20-minute lessons on a first come, first served basis as scheduling permits.
The objectives are to:
-
Assist schools in meeting the minimum requirements for comprehensive health education standards for Nutrition and Physical Activity.
-
Improve student knowledge of vitamins and minerals necessary for their growth and development.
-
Increase student preference for selected California grown produce items through classroom activities, including taste testing.
-
Increase student participation in daily physical activity.
MyPlate/Harvest of the Month Virtual Lessons
Due to high demand for our educators, we have re-instated our self-paced, virtual lessons for teachers who wish to implement the lessons on their own.
Sign your classroom up with the links above. Teachers who complete all 5 lessons and submit the Teacher Evaluation form, will be provided a smoothie party for your classroom or incentives for all your students.
