Fostering a Shelter Pet
Thank you for choosing to help a shelter pet as a foster parent. Our program is mainly for shelter pets that may not be doing well in the shelter, need additional medical care, be underaged or have a behavioral issue and require a temporary place to relax and be successful.
A couple things about our foster program:
- All animals remain as shelter animals until the adoption process has been finalized.
- Foster animals are NOT to be transferred to another home or agency without permission from the shelter beforehand.
- As we don't know the full medical history of shelter pets going into foster care, we recommend all household pets are up to date on vaccines and kept separate from new foster animals initially.
- You are required to bring the animal to the shelter for any scheduled medical treatments or appointments.
- We'll need your help promoting your foster animals with pictures and videos when they are ready!
- All foster applicants must be Monterey County residents and have a reliable source of transportation.
- All foster applications must be 18 years of age or older.
