Meet the District Attorney
Ms. Pacioni received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University. After receiving her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law in 1990, she became licensed to practice law in the states of California and Arizona. In 1990, she worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the Kern County District Attorney’s Office and in 1992 she joined the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
In 2001, she left to raise her family, returning after an 8-year sabbatical during which time she also served as a Grand Juror of the Monterey County Civil Grand Jury, and as President of the Junior League of Monterey County. In 2012, she joined the National Charity League of Monterey Bay, of which she has served as a member of their Board of Directors. Ms. Pacioni was formerly a Board Member of the Monterey Rape Crisis Center, and is currently a member of the Monterey County Children’s Council and the Child Abuse Prevention Council. She is also a member of the Monterey County Bar Association and the California District Attorneys Association and the Monterey County Chief Law Enforcement Officers Association.
Ms. Pacioni has devoted her entire legal career to the pursuit of justice while handling virtually every type of criminal case prosecuted in Monterey County. For 20 years as a prosecutor, she has tenaciously represented victims of crime in numerous high-profile cases involving murder, gang crimes, vehicular manslaughter, assault, robbery, child molestation, adult sexual assault, and elder abuse. On November 21, 2019, Ms. Pacioni was recognized by the Monterey County Women's Lawyers Association as the 2019 recipient of the Lady Justice Lifetime Achievement Award for Legal Advocacy and Community Service.
In 2018, she was elected and became the first female District Attorney in Monterey County.

SALINAS WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, WITNESS INTIMIDATION AND CRIMINAL THREATS
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that 33-year-old Maria Delgado, a resident of Salinas, was found guilty by a jury of one count of residential burglary, two counts of criminal threats and witness intimidation.

CHARLES HOLIFIELD WAIVES RIGHT TO JURY TRIAL AND APPEALS; WILL BE TRIED BY JUDGE FOR MAXIMUM SENTENCE OF LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE
DA Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that in exchange for his agreement to waive his right to a jury trial and his rights to state and federal writs and appeals, the prosecution has agreed not to seek the death penalty against Charles Holifield, charged with the murder of Christina Williams.

MOUNTAIN VIEW RESIDENT FOUND GUILTY OF DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that Navneet Mathur, age 50, was convicted of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) level above 0.08%.

CASTROVILLE MAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS IN PRISON FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CAUSING GREAT BODILY INJURY
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that Castroville resident David Gonzalez Lara, age 50, was sentenced by Judge Pamela L. Butler to nine years in prison for committing domestic violence causing great bodily injury.

Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at 1:19 a.m., an armed robbery occurred in the area of Old Natividad Road and Natividad Road. One of the suspects assaulted the victim with a black semi- auto handgun and then fled the scene.

Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that Patrick Ken Cochran, age 53, pled guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence, which resulted in the death of Jocelyn Young.

KING CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ARMED ROBBERY OF 7-ELEVEN STORE CLERK AND RESISTING ARREST
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that King City resident, Jose Aceves, age 39, pled to one count of armed robbery and one count of resisting arrest. The defendant also admitted that he has a prior strike conviction.
