The County Communications Bureau of Monterey County is committed to providing life-saving information to all County residents during times of crisis. Our top priority is to deliver accurate, timely, and transparent information that everyone can access, regardless of language or technology barriers. From rapidly evolving wildfires to unexpected public health crises, we work tirelessly to ensure you have the information you need to stay safe and make informed decisions.

Inclusive Communication for All

To reach every resident in Monterey County, we partner with hundreds of Community-Based Organizations that help amplify our messages throughout the community. These partnerships allow us to extend critical updates to even the most hard-to-reach populations in rural and underserved areas. We provide communications in multiple languages, ensuring our diverse communities receive essential information when it matters most.

Expert Crisis Management

In collaboration with the Department of Emergency Management, the County Communications Bureau offers comprehensive Public Information Officer services, bringing a high level of expertise to crisis management. We also manage the Joint Information Center at the Emergency Operations Center, coordinating communications across multiple agencies to ensure consistent, reliable information flows to residents.

Combating Misinformation

The County's Communication Bureau is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and transparent information across all platforms. This commitment includes fostering access to reliable and factual content from trusted news outlets, social media channels, and other information sources. To further support residents, the County actively promotes media literacy, equipping individuals with the skills to independently fact-check and critically analyze potentially deceptive or misleading data. By empowering residents to distinguish factually verifiable information from propaganda or misinformation, the County reinforces its mission to build an informed, engaged, and resilient community.
