On July 8, 2025, the County received an updated report: Cornerstone Earth Group, Data Review for Moss Landing Vistra Battery Fire, revised July 08, 2025
This version better supports the original goal: to deduce if the current environmental data is sufficient for a Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA), and what’s still missing. The revised memo confirms that the County’s data dashboard is useful for public communication, but not designed for technical health analysis. The toxicologist recommends several key next steps:
- Collect new, focused samples
- Rely on lab data over field screening results
- Include background data for context
- Perform a full quality review of all data
These recommendations aim to ensure the County has accurate and complete information if an HHRA is pursued later. The County is already working on the data quality checks mentioned in the memo. In addition, the Community Sampling Plan will help fill the data gaps identified. Terraphase will use the new data collected through this sampling to complete their own human health risk screening, which will then be reviewed for completeness and accuracy by County‑coordinated state partners.
